Cryptic Studios and Perfect World announced yesterday that Neverwinter, their free-to-play Dungeons and Dragons MMO, has more than 12 million users across all platforms. In addition, many of those also call the PC their home. That platform totals seven million players. Then there’s three million on Xbox and two on the PS4.

Add all of those numbers together and you get twelve.

The success could be attributed to the long-standing love a lot of people have with Dungeons and Dragons, but at the same time, it’s tough to know exactly how many of those twelve million players are actually active. I suspect that number includes anyone who’s simply created an account and logged on at least once. I’d be included in that number even though I haven’t touched Neverwinter since it’s initial launch on PC back in 2013.

Still, there’s plenty of fun to be had in Neverwinter, and it’s good to know that roughly 12 million people have given it a shot.
