The GDPR, or General Data Protection Regulation, claims another victim, in part. Edge of Reality’s stylized 3rd person shooter, Loadout, will be closing its doors on May 24th.

There’s a few factors contributing to the decision, but they seem to primarily revolve around Europe’s GDPR, which is changing how companies take and share user data. Edge of Reality says that they simply don’t have the resources to update Loadout so that it complies with the GDPR.

On top of that, their current cloud service provide is going out of business (which may or may not, but probably is, related to GDPR), and with the cost of cloud services rising, it would become even more expensive to keep Loadout’s lights on.
