Rejoice! Apex Legends is receiving a limited event that will give players something to do while they wait patiently for Season 2!
Next Tuesday, players can engage in all sorts of fun activities. If you place in the top 5, you can enter an “elite” queue with other top 5 players, but to stay in this queue, you have to keep winning within the top 5. There are also new skins to earn and double XP to help you earn them.
Details for season 2 are scarce, but they gave some bullet points that amount to:
- Level up via Daily and Weekly Challenges.
- Time to Battle Pass level 100 should be significantly reduced.
- Three additional Legendary skins added to the rewards track.
- Three entirely new content categories replace badge and stat tracker rewards.
- You’ll earn enough Crafting Metal rewards from the full reward track to craft a Legendary item, or whatever your heart desires.
Of course, it’s not exactly an uncommon opinion that Apex Legends, regardless of how great the base game is, released a pretty unimpressive season 1 battle pass. It took too long to grind, and the rewards really weren’t that great to begin with.
Then developer Respawn came out and made sure that players understood that their employees would not be spending 80 hours a week churning out content for the game. They’d take their time, get it right, and allow people to be free of the crunch and keep their sanity intact.
Of course, that meant that players no longer had a taste carrot on a stick to chase, so they’ve been gradually leaving the game. At one point, Apex Legends was at the top of the Twitch charts; now it’s hovering at a respectable level that is still far from a certain other game.
Anywho, point being – the game needs content to keep people engaged, and while season 2 is still a little ways away, information is certainly coming. You’re just going to have to until EA’s E3 event, Play, to hear more on June 8th.
