Well, cracking down might be a bit much, but Apple is making some changes to how loot boxes (for games such as Hearthstone and other card games) are handled. Now, developers much show the odds for the loot contained within.
Apple says this:
Apps offering “loot boxes” or other mechanisms that provide randomized virtual items for purchase must disclose the odds of receiving each type of item to customers prior to purchase.
This is only a few weeks after Hawaii said that they’re hoping to combat predatory loot box practices. With any luck, now that Apple has started to also follow suit to some degree, perhaps other vendors, such as Google Play and perhaps even Steam, will follow suit.
