In a move that Gearbox should’ve perhaps considered last year, Battleborn has gone free-to-play, sort of.

Gearbox is dubbing it a “free trial” that grants access to competitive multiplayer, all maps, and no level caps. The game’s 30 heroes will have a weekly free rotation of 6, and any progress you make is permanent. So you can pick up where you left off when they enter the free rotation again.

As for permanently unlocking everything the game has to offer, such as the heroes, single player missions, cosmetics, etc, you can either pick them up with real money, buy the full game, or earn credits from matches to unlock all that stuff for free. Those who already own the game also get Founder’s Status with some nifty in-game rewards.

You can read more about the free trial on the official Battleborn site.
