At least it wasn’t a Belgium Waffle.
Blizzard announced today that in response to Belgium’s banning of loot boxes from video games, that they’d be removing them for purchase in both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm. They’ll still be able to earn them through game play, but as for dropping $1,500 dollars to get that legendary skin you really want (or enough credits to buy it) that’s no longer going to be possible.
Back in April, Belgium singled out a few games, including Overwatch, and declared that the loot boxes in those games constituted gambling. So Blizzard really had no choice but to comply, or else the games could no longer be played there.
