Remember when Bluehole was known for games other than Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds? Once upon a time, they made Tera, and now the developer is teaming up with Kakao Games (Black Desert Online) to release another MMORPG in the west.
Ascent: Infinite Realm, previously known as Project W, is likely just a good reason to use the acronym AIR. Fitting, as it turns out, because AIR mixes steampunk with high fantasy. Meaning, most likely, elves and orcs in airships battling dragons. But the air isn’t all AIR has to offer, There will be ground stuff as well. Sky battles will be the draw, but you can take part from the ground with mechs and a variety of anti-air weapons.
The game will also feature five player classes (warlord, sorceress, gunslinger, assassin, and mystic). You can customize them to your heart’s content, but they will be gender-locked. AIR will also feature player housing to some degree, allowing players to build estates and then work with your neighbors to build a community.
Expect closed beta early next year, and head on over to the game’s site to learn a little more.
