What better way to celebrate April Fools’ Day than to announce that the latest Call of Duty game would have its Battle Royale mode free for a month. The punchline to this joke is, well… there isn’t one. From now until the end of the month, anyone can download Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode and try to survive until they’re the last one standing.
What meaning might there be behind such hooplah? Well, Blackout has a new map coming out soon. In fact, it’ll be out on the PS4 tomorrow. Other platforms, of course, have to wait a week. So that’s probably a good reason to draw in new players. What might this map be? Well, if you’ve ever wondered what it woudl be like to go to Alcatraz and kill anyone you can find, then boy do I have some news for you because that’s exactly what you’ll be able to do.
This map will be a fair bit smaller than the last Blackout map, which as far as I know has no official name, so we’ll just call it The Place With Nuketown Island. Expect shootouts in much closer quarters, and maybe fewer players.
Check out the PS4 trailer below. Just squint really hard to sharpen the graphics to get a sense of what it might look like on PC in a week or so.
