Hold onto your butts, Dinosaurs are coming to China, and for free. (Cash shop not withstanding.)
Snail Games announced this week that it is opening up a Chinese free-to-play Ark: Survival Evolved on January 1st.
For the most part, it’ll be the same game that’s available in the US, but you’ll get XP faster, collect more materials, tame faster, and breed more quickly. The game’s also getting a tutorial, a messaging system, and mailboxes. There will also be a “battle server” to allow tribes to wage war among themselves.
There are no details yet about business model, but expect it to be there, and expect there to be a cash shop.
Of course, this pertains to China only, but who knows, maybe this will pave the way for a free-to-play ARK server in the US, Wildcard Studios (the developer behind the game) have already toyed with a free version of the game.
