A Marvel representative sent word to Kotaku today that they’d ended their relationship with Marvel Heroes developers Gazillion. Meaning that without the Marvel license, Gazillion will be soon shutting down Marvel Heroes across all platforms.
The statement goes like this:
“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.”
Though the game originally launched on PC back in 2013, it only made its way to consoles earlier this year, so this likely comes as a sore surprise to anyone action-RPGing it up on those platforms.
This most likely doesn’t come a surprise to Gazillion, though. They’ve been tight-lipped about any future updates to the game for some time.
The developer also hasn’t publicly commented on the closure, so we’re still unsure how long Marvel Heroes will continue to operate, but it would probably be wise not to purchase anymore DLC for the game.
