As of August 30th, Firefall‘s login servers are down, and it would seem that the game’s about as done as done can be.
This shouldn’t be too surprising, though. Most of the development studio, Red 5 Games, were let go about a month ago, something announced fairly unceremoniously through Twitter.
Sorry to hear about all the people left at Red 5 Studios getting let go. If you have job openings, be sure to reach out.

The game, it would, had been winding down for some times, but it’s unfortunate that it had to go out not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Firefall’s had a fairly tumultuous life, to say the least. Initial impressions were optimistic, but that’s about where it ended. The game never knew what it wanted to be, and it was reiterated on time and time again, but I guess, as they say, they never found the fun.
