Trion Worlds, the makers of Rift, Defiance, and Trove (and publisher of a few other games), have evidently been bought out by Gamigo, as a few sources are indicating.

The big news here is that a large portion of Trion’s staff has been laid off, and what this could possibly mean for any of their games is anyone’s guess. According to Gamasutra, only about 25 of Trion’s 200+ staff were given the opportunity to continue at the studio. The other 175 or so people have been given the boot.
