Some behind the scenes shake-ups are in store for Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online.

The developers responsible for both games are leaving Turbine to create a new indie game developer, Standing Stone Games, and taking both games with them along the ride. What does this mean for Turbine? Not much, evidently. They’ll still be plugging away at their own projects.

According to Standing Stone Games, not much will change for LOTRO and DDO, either. They’ll still be working on both games as hard as ever, just under a new name with a new publisher.

That publisher is Daybreak Games who seem to be struggling in their own right, so who knows what this will all mean in six months.

Standing Stone Games have done their best to placate players with both an official statement and an FAQ.
