Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game that includes a cast of characters across Blizzard’s many franchises, and is created by the massive studio itself. The game is known for it’s intense team focus, in opposition to other MOBA’s. This is accomplished through a point system only rewarding the team for it’s accomplishments, instead of mainly rewarding the individuals accomplishing it. For instance, in many MOBA’s, the last one to hit an opponent before they die is given more rewards than the other contributors. This is not so in Heroes of the Storm, where the credit is shared team-wide.
The game has now announced Auriel, another character from the Diablo series (Diablo 3.)
Auriel will be a support character, meaning she will have a focus in abilities that control combat, and assist her teammates while weakening her foes in order to have other characters deal heavy damage to finish fights. Auriel herself features the ability to resurrect, and put things into stasis, among others. If you’re a fan of any Blizzard game and curious of the MOBA genre, Heroes of the Storm is a great (and free!) starting point for you, it features characters throughout the Blizzard game lineup, and design’s that compliment the characters origins and abilities transcending titles. You won’t regret it.
