A.V.A over the course of 5+ years

I discovered this game in 2010 and I was immediately hooked on it - the graphics were really nice, they still are, although they start to feel a bit outdated. The aspects that make this game stand out are two: the game play and the weapon customization mechanics.

The game play, specifically the gun play and one specific game mode - Escort Mode, where players from Team 1 have to escort a tank from their starting point (Point A) to the other end of the map (Point B) and Team 2's objective is to try and prevent Team 1 from achieving their goal. Team 2 has access to RPG-7s, which take two shots in order to destroy the tank, Team 1, on the other hand can repair the tank any time it's destroyed and if two people repair at once, it's faster. This mode specifically changed my perspective on FPS games and what should one look for in them.

The weapon customization mechanics allows for players to add attachments to their weapons, which adjust the weapon's stats and performance. Although they aren't all visual, sometimes if there is an option between two scopes or no scope, there is a cosmetic difference. Another aspect that can be merged with this one is the abundance of different weapons, there are so many that it can take a person half a year, if not more of intensive playing, just so he can gather enough money to test out all of them, maybe a whole year is more accurate.

Although the game has those two aspects that make it one of the best I've played, there is something that people need to take into account before they decide to invest time (and maybe money) into the game. This is the cash shop. Before 2012, A.V.A as published by IJJI, but something happened, IJJI had to shut down so Aeria Games acquired most of the games, including A.V.A, development continued, but only in a matter of months or two after Aeria Games re-released A.V.A, the cash shop updates started to make the game one-sided - people who are willing to spend huge amounts of money could get their hands on overpowered, cash shop-only weapons. While as in every FPS game what matters are skill, reflexes and keeping a cool head and a person with regular weapons can compete against people with cash shop weapons, that's not always the case, so most new players either give in or give up.

Be advised on what are you getting your hands into right here, it's a double-bladed sword.
