Coordinate, or don't, and set up the perfect defense

It's been a while since I played, so some things might have changed since then.

Dungeon Defenders II is a promising game, and perfect for the right kind of people, that kind of people being people who enjoy slower-paced games.
One smart thing the devs did to this game is prevent you from repairing buildings as they are being damaged, so each blockade you set up will eventually be destroyed if you don't set up enough turrets to kill the monsters before they reach the barricades, making it so you can't just build one barricade and pile all your turrets next to it
There are also some synergies between the buildings, for example, the bow-using elf girl can build a trap that covers enemies in water, and the bald monk guy can put a trap that electrocutes enemies. It can be fairly entertaining with friends, but if you happen to be alone or don't go that deep with your randomly assigned teammates, it won't ruin the experience, either.

the community, from my experience, was surprisingly good. I submitted a question, and within the hour, I get like 3 replies, one of those replies being from one of the devs. It might be more crowded now, and take longer before you get attended to, but even so, it's pretty rare for something like that to happen.

    Serious Review

My experience in this game: 2 max level char, nightmare 2 gear (max is nightmare 4 gear) , ONLY f2p stuff (no real money spent) , around 66 hours of play.

Review: There is no char customization, you can pick different clases but you can also own them all (currently 4) leveling takes a while but its not hard and the quests do good at introducing you to the game , it also gets easier to level the other classes as you max level each class. Gameplay is really cool and unique.

End game: the only thing to do at end game is to farm gear to reach a tougher difficulty which can make the game feel repetitive. Multiple character builds can give some differences in gameplay.

    Cons:
Alpha phase makes it lack in content
    Can feel repetitive at times
End game isnt as exciting as it should be

    Pros:
    Open alpha
For alpa phase it has very few bugs if any
    Gameplay is unique
Devs listen and comunicate with the community
    Community is nice

Conclussion (tl;dr) play this game if you dont mind the open alpha phase, you like pve (no pvp atm) , you dont mind tower defense games. Keep in mind lack of content and gear farming.

    nice but repeating game

It has decent graphics. In terms of gameplay its repeating and to collect loot and money you have to walk over every item and coin and collect them individually which is boring and you may miss some good items that way.

Unclear at some points but overall its nice

This game is quite challenging, especially when playing with random people. This game requires teamwork, and I've never really seen any communication. Also the party system is a bit weird. Apparently you stay in a party with the people you've recently played with and if you don't know what to do there, you're just stuck with them.
Its cool that you can play different classes, and they all have their own things to work with. Still, the fact that you play with random people doesn't make it easier. You have to know how to build, before you even get a proper explanation on it. I figured most of it out myself, but this game really needs a better tutorial imo.
I bet this game would be fun with friends, while on TS or skype, but as I don't, this game isn't in my favorites.

    hmmm

Not recommended in it's current state, due to having way more RAM usage then plausibly feasilble. Caps out my 6 GB RAM, and seems to max out a friend's with 26 GB RAM. It wasn't anywhere near like this when I got it, so I can't imagine why it's like this now.

    Very fair game, but!

There is always a but! A pain in the... You know what i mean... First i have 189 hours of play time in Dungeon defenders 2, so i know what im talking about when i say, if you like Tower/Hero defense or Hack n Slay games you should get it! You have your standard monster lanes where waves of enemies are coming towards your precious jewels or eggs (sounds weird)... and you have to fend them off. When you join a game you open a little chest and loot green crystals, which is your currency for your traps, barricades, towers and their upgrades. After you are ready, you press G and the monster start attacking. Dungeon Defenders can be played coop or solo. I play the most times solo because you can skill a hero either as a builder or a fighter. The builder has more denfese power or health and the fighter is obviously better in doing damage with the chosen and what i dont like about this game is like 90% of the community has a fighter hero... they all depend on others that they have builders... but the game does not work like that. Rİght now you can have 4 heroes in your deck. I have 3 builder and 1 fighter. But most people just have 1 Hero and that is a fighter which is annoying as hell. They let you do the work and just jump around... and i met people who dont even use abilities who just stand there as a ranger with the attitude "as long as i look i would do something its ok höhö" and thats the pain in the butt in this game... as it is now! Its still an early access! MAAANY things will change, with the next patch there will be a fifth playable hero (the abyss lord). New maps, new hero decks, account leveling... and so on. The game is in alpha for a very long time now and they want to come out of it this year and even it was an alpha there were events to keep people entertained. Its really a great game! If you are a solo player you cant go wrong, if you have 3 other friends to play with, i bet it will be a great experience for all of you but playing with randoms... never again. Its definitely not a pay2win game and I higjly recommend it!

    Fun game to play.

It's a really fun game to play with friends who like the type of game. And after the publisher realized that the pay to play the game wasn't a good idea, it's free, so give it a try.
