Grindy, but might be worth giving it a shot

The graphics itself is not on par with the big titles of 2014/2015/2016, but it has certain graphical elements which still make up for the low quality textures, weird looking trees and bushes, ... - for example the way movement is handled animation-wise, the way the soldiers stand on uneven terrain. Overall, the graphics are not appealing, but it has got some hidden gems inside it.
On terms of gameplay, the game is really, really grindy, over time the grind slightly eases up, but it does not leave... It's grindy both action- and money-wise, you have to perform actions over and over to get ribbon experience which unlocks you items, modifications on weapons, etc... But, after you got the ribbon, you'll need to get the money for the said unlocked thing. The battles are taking place on a map of europe and there's both a battle of strategy and tactics as well as reflexes, equipment and manpower. There are 3 factions atm and each of them have different weaponry, which makes the factions unique.
The community has flamers/blamers in many of the battles, but if you find yourself a group you feel comfortable playing with you'll find out that part of the community is very decent in the game, something you'd expect from a slightly-competitive game.
Overall, the game's not bad for a free title and if you dont mind the grind and the occasional huge difficulty of assaults and defenses, you could give it a try yourself, maybe play it casually or daily one-two matches (the queues sometimes are going as far up as 3 min) like many others.

    The definitive WWII MMO

A game that you sweat through hours of time to earn the smallest of attachments for weapons or tools to use on the battlefield, enter the battle as a Soviet, American or German soldier in a face-off against the other two factions in what is supposed to be WWII (although America and the USSR did not ever battle during WWII or even after, for that matter) in a game where you play as a choice of classes. Whether you snipe from the hills as the subtle Recon unit, or you handle the beastly tanks on the warfront as a Tank Crewman, or go by the simple "spray and pray" infantry class, you'll always have some type of fun in this game, be it by killing your enemies OR your allies by accident. The one thing to keep in mind is that this game is primarily Pay-to-Win, in the sense that most content is hard to earn and you may spend weeks of grinding for the good stuff. You have been warned, comrade

Like a Battlefield 2.5 and Arma in ww2.

It is a great combination of fun and realistic-ish gameplay, some of the map elements are repeated and reused but the map feels realistic. The marches are not that rewarding. If you don't have veteran you feel like you just get half of the exp. Also buying new weapons cost lots of money and you have to keep that in mind that you need to repair them over the time. The weapon slots are easy to fill and you need to be a veteran again to own one bonus slot for a pistol for instance. Overall, it is a great game and fun to play with friends but can be boring after time.

    Astonishing!

The game has the best WW shooting expirience, with the vehicles, weapons, graphics, ribbons... The game is very realistic with the gameplay, strategy also plays a great part in the game, matchmaking is balanced, and the community is AWESOME!! I simply have nothing more to say. 10/10

    Great Game

Despite many of the reviews on Heroes and Generals saying it's Pay-to-Win, it really isn't. It is a grind, but not pay-to-win. Gold doesn't advance you much, and it's fairly easy to get credits. The graphics are great and the combat is, for the most part, smooth. You do start out as an infantryman with limited equipment and maps to choose from, but once you get past all that, then you can enjoy the full experience. As I said earlier, it is a grind and a moderate time investment, meaning you'll have to be active when you're in game racking up captures and kills. The combat is smooth and the weapons feel at least somewhat realistic(the rifles feel and sound like they hit hard). You can get pretty far early on. New content is added probably once a month or so, but the bugfixes happen pretty often, and the community is helpful for the most part.

Fun, but can be a grind

Heroes and Generals is a fun game to play. The graphics are rather nice, and gameplay is good. However, I do have a few complaints with the game. When you first start, you can only be an infantry class. You must earn enough experience to get to Rank 5, when you have the choice to either become a Tankman or continue for other classes (i.e. Paratrooper, Pilot). Unless you play this game A LOT, it will take a while to get up to even rank 5. another complaint is the amount of items that you can only get to by paying. Several things, such as the scoped weapons for the Americans, require you to spend gold or pay money to get. Another thing is the long game time waits. There is an estimated wait time clock when you enter the battle matchmaking screen. It has said 12 seconds and I have waited for 1:48 minutes. And this isn't a one time occurrence, it is a common occurrence. I feel that is enough said on that topic. Still, Heroes and Generals is fun to play. I only wish that you could level up faster for those who are not hardcore players or PayToWin-ers.

A F2P Battlefield 1944 that gets boring fast

This game has the concept of Battlefield 1944 with modern graphics, and I gotta admit, the game looks damn good. And the whole idea of a long war campaign fought through a map of Europe is interesting. But, here's the problem, it gets boring fast. The maps aren't diverse enough, and the gameplay is simple. If you aren't willing to pay money or grind a lot, you'll find yourself a lot of time running from your spawn point to the objective, only to be gunned down quickly. Those with money come with tanks, airplanes, and all kinds of good weapons. 3/5 from me.

    No change over the years

The game is not a bad concept...It's just badly optimised ( I mean very bad)...Updates fdon't fix bugs, just add content...Community almost doesn't speak english at all( actually people never talk on the chat). So,I'll give this 2/2 DayZs, and I hope it'll be fixed opne day...

One of the best games about WW2

This game is awesome. It really gets you in it and you can see the differents between long playing players and new but the game does really gut job separating them. There is only one minus in this game that i noticed. When you rich the point where you have to choose classes you have to do the right desision because if you make a mistake to undo it it cost quit alot

    Fun WW2 FPS

The gameplay is fun with or without friends. The World War II weapons are so much fun to use because most games now are futuristic and bland. This brings back the old timey wars that are actually fun and are a part of history. The vehicles that you can drive also add a very fun touch to the gameplay. The graphics are alright and the community is good too.

Does this game deserve your time? ... Yeah!

    (Sorry for my bad english)
At this date - march 4, 2015 - I have 81 hours played. Every f***ing minute I played is worth. It´s a WWII FPS with a great gameplay, good community, decent graphics, small disk space requirements, bad optimization, bad match making, low leveling up, exellent weapon customization, That´s all you have to know about it, just try an hour and you´ll love it
Only 4 maps for the beginners, then you´ll unlock all of them.
Three factions, just play one for better experience (I recommend Germans, they have the best weapons)
After playing a while you´ll unlock the panzer driver, the dogfight, the parachute man and the sniper
Just play it, that´s all you have to know about it

    Use to be the best

H&G use to be the ww2 fps out there until last year when they basically made the game pay2win with all the tanks been locked behind a paywall or a month of grinding. It had a good potential but they waisted it
