One of the best FreeToPlay FPS game I ever played

Recently got back into playing this game, and have been having a blast. Here's some things I've noticed:

    * The new tutorial continent is exactly what they needed for the game, it's a small scale version of the actual continents that mostly keeps the newer players "safe" from veterans, excluding Smurfs, since you must be under BR15 to be able to spawn there. It's still not a full tutorial, but at least it's a controlled environment to learn the ropes.
    * The cert grind is also much easier than before, with ribbon bonuses (first 5 of which are doubled), weapon medals, directives etc.
    * Alerts are no longer the deciding factor for locking a continent with the new Victory Point system. Never did like basically getting the boot every time an alert ended, whether you won or not.

When it comes to FPS, nothing comes even close to what this game comes to offer when it comes to the sheer scale of battles, and the only other thing that I can think of that comes close to the sense of scale that Planetside 2 offers would be Guild Wars 2's World V World. It's free to try out, so the only thing you lose is time.

    Some tips for new players:
    * Stick to the beginner continent until you hit BR15. You can always leave and come back before then if you want to test the deeper waters, but once you're past that you cannot go back. Take advantage of the smaller scale zones to familiarize yourself with the mechanics before diving headfirst into the zergs.
    * Try out *everything* before you buy it. There are two ways of doing this, VR training and Trials. VR training lets you use any combination of gear and attachments for no cost, but only in VR training (unless you unlock the stuff with certs/DBC while in there) They have target ranges for vehicles, infantry, air, complete with range markings for infantry. Take advantage of this. See how each gun works, how it kicks from recoil, cone of fire, and try out how each attachment effects how it fires. Only problem with VR training is that none of the targets move, they're just static and don't truly show how they work in a real fight. That's why Trials exist, so you can use a weapon, albiet just base without attachments, in a real fight for a few hours before spending those hard earned certs on them.
    * Lastly, Planetside 2 is a game about numbers more than it is a shooter, so go in with friends and find a good outfit. Best way to find an outfit is to join an alert platoon, usually run by an outfit, and essentially trial running them. Most outfits recruit this way, so don't be afraid to ask about them while running with them. You'll find the game much more enjoyable while in an outfit, if only to have people to talk to while running with randoms or while participating in organized operations.

Hope this helps at least some people with starting out.

One of my personal favourite shooters in general

An open world shooter MMO simply existing should be enough to attract anyone into the genre of Shooters. Explore the beautiful landscapes of Auraxis that you can roam when you're not clashing against the freedom fighters of the New Conglomerate, the technological supremacists of the Vanu Sovereignty and, my preferred faction, the tyrannical regime of the Terran Republic. Each of these three factions wage their wars across four diverse continents, and on each of these continents, the key objective is to conquer strategic points to win the whole continent for your faction, giving it universal benefits of different sorts. In this game, you find that communication and tactical gameplay pays off and is commonly practiced amongst player-made squads and platoons, leading to a fun cooperative game where you have massive planet-wide combat waging on until one faction reigns supreme.

    Best free mmofps seen yet!

This game got almost all qualities what mmofps needs. Nice graphics good gameplay and so on but there is also negative things. Keeping up endless war needs lot of balance and that why weapons and some things been tuned lot in developement which gives this game funny nick "Tuneside". Also some game changes that are targetting to get more massive battle mayhem, are taking out some quality things like scout going behind lines to sabotage which is not working and useless nowdays. Game was definitely best free game to play but seem to go slowly more and more pay to win game.

One of the best FTP MMOFPS!

    pros :

1)Huge OPEN WORLD map with extremely beautiful graphics (if your system can handle ofc)

2)Tons of active players anytime of the day (feels like the game might never die)

3)Variety of vehicles (Air and land) including faction specific ones.

    4) DONT NEED TO SPEND ANY REAL MONEY! Skill is important here, not money. All you can buy are a few cosmetics and a premium membership(if you want to support the game) which provides extra perks, nothing p2w at all.

    cons:

    1) Need a decent pc to run the game, huge difference between low and ultra graphics.

2)Not many events or stuff like that. Ofc the game is updated regularly, but in the last 2 years, Ive not seen anything interesting. Feels repetitive at times.

3)Not much player to player conversation. Unless you are in a good guild. Doesnt feel like a mmo game if you are not in one.

with tat said, its easily one of my favourite ftp MMO now. every fps fan should try!

A bloody good alternative to Battlefield.

You pick from one of three brightly-coloured factions, each with their own distinct specialties, pick a continent to drop down on, and start shooting, blasting, driving, flying and sieging. It borrows a lot of elements from Battlefield and other shooters to good effect - unlike Battlefield, though, there's hundreds if not thousands of people going at each other at once, there's no $40 season passes, and you're not kicked from the game for equipping anything that isn't a sniper rifle.

    Game like no other

Planetside 2 is a game that no other game has matched. It's massive size laughs at the stages, or maps, of other FPS games. It proudly displays it's guiness record for most players in a game. Planetside 2 mixes gameplay from 6 different infantry classes, jets, tanks, gunships, ATV's, and what are essentially dune buggies with guns. You can try your best to be MLG and slay as many enemies as you can as a heavy assault, or fly around with a jetpack as a light assault, be a sneaky sniper or assasin as an infiltrator, or support your teamates as a medic or engineer. And while you're on the battlefield expect to see explosive shells fly by your head, and pray that someone from your faction might come with some air support to help you out. 3 unique factions duking it out to no end, across 4 continents, where a normal COD map is only a small piece of one continent (in comparison). Planetside 2 is the only game i've ever played that i came close to breaking 2,000 hours on. It's a difficult game to get into as it's not player friendly to new people. The community is usually good, but quick to blame the Devs. Not that they are wrong to in all cases, Daybreak Games certainly has it's share of flaws. That being said, i would recommend anyone that can run this game to try it out, there's something in planetside for everyone to do!

    awesome mass-player fps game

if you like being crammed up with dozens and dozens of players in a huge map that gives you the sensation of all-out war this is the game for you.....with 3 factions and a many classes and vehicles ....but it would be great to make faction specific classes rather than just being repeated in all factions ...nonetheless planetside 2 offers a great fps experience with different playstyles to explore and huge maps and great number of players to group up with or fight against

    Almost perfect

I'm the most dedicated fan for Battlefield 4 and i thing its the best of the best because that i think Planet Site 2 is on second place only because:
    - the world in the game is not much real and have too much clear places
    - bad optimization for amd hardware.
    The good things are:
    - She have maximum as you can have battle simulations in one game
    - you can be the best or the worst soldier on the battlefield no matter how high level you are
    - can play with infinity numbers friend as squad or team or vs them as enemies or as lone wolf
    - can level up and unlock weapons (every weapon no need to pay) the pay way is to level up or unlock faster.

One of the best fps gamed

Planetside 2 is in fact better then most of other triple A titles out there to this day. At launch there were few bugs like all other games but it is definitely awesome. Just make sure to get into a clan because this game was not meant for lone Wolf's and it's not fun by yourself. The only thing I would consider a draw back is the prices they could make it bit more cheaper other wise 9/10
