One of the Best in the MOBA genre, let alone 3D!

I love this game. Started playing originally during the beta for Xbox One, then felt the control interface is better suited for keyboard & mouse. I enjoyed this game on both platforms though! A great idea building around Gods that everyone is familiar with, and designing the gameplay around the lore you know for each god, whether it be Norse, Greek, Roman etc.

I do wish that cross-platform play becomes available. I hate having 2 separate accounts for each platform. Other than that, extremely happy with this game!

    great lore

    good community

fair cash shop model [their god pack include all past and future champions so no grinding for in game currency to unlock them and rest cash shop is cosmetic]

    Very Unique Spin on MOBAs

I have played 5 other MOBAs in my past gaming experience. Of which include DOTA 2, League of Legends, Strife, and Heroes of the Storm. Despite countless hours spent on all of these MOBAs, Smite stays as my favorite. Its unique 3rd person perspective allows for more skill and mechanics to be incorporated into the game. In addition to regular "Gem Storms" , daily rewards, weekly quests, and a variety of maps to play on, I find myself most often enjoying my time playing Smite. Though, like most MOBAs, the community has a few bad apples, and some of the cosmetic skins look very textured, it makes for a terrific spin on the popular MOBA genre.

SMITE is smiting many other MOBA-type games (SMITE Xbox One)

I began playing this one at my son's request as an alternative to LoL, I am glad he had me switch up. The use of the pantheons from different cultures is crazy fun and entertaining add in the quirkiness of the skins and other cosmetic items just makes SMITE a blast to play.
Mechanics are relatively simple but God specific moves require some thought, the game does make the "difficulty" of the God easy to discern in it's description although as in all things not always do they reflect a particular players ability to play a certain style or way. That said a God that may be deemed easy or hard may not be that way for you the gamer, so give them all a shot and see what fits you and your skills. SMITE makes it very easy to try a god through either the rent option or through the free rotation each week.
There is an in-game market but it is not required for play nor winning, it is mainly cosmetic with the exception being the Boosters, that increase you worshipers and favor earned per match. This is okay if you are in a rush but I would suggest take your time and learn the Gods and how to play them well so that you can play against them well. In any MOBA game learn the ins and outs of teamwork and what works well together and what does not.
The in-game market is not to bad in cost and there are tiers so you can spend alot or a little as you want. I do not like that their is not an option to "gift" in the market but hey maybe we will see it in the future. Gems which are the in-game currency seem to only be available through the game ie: Microsoft Store, it would be nice to see some cards available at retailers, but the Microsoft store keeps things quick and simple and safe.
The Community in SMITE is much like many other communities in competitive games but any "nasty" messages and compliments have to be sent via Xbox message also the players are often times very helpful and informative, I have developed many friends through this source. You can only use pre-set talk commands and emotes in the game but only among your team, this is a draw back since finite directions or calls for help take time to type out. You can use the game chat if you have a mic and headset, as an adult this is not a problem for me or my son (also an adult) but younger players should have some parental oversight since "chat" is unregulated.
Well here's hoping you all find this informative and more over I hope I get picked to win the contest.
SMITE is an amazing game and you won't be disappointed if you are looking for a new MOBA game.

    Refreshing :)

Smite is almost totally different from the mainstream mobas. Why? Because it has a Third Person perspective (boo!!!). The game consists of ~60 gods and It has TONS of modes to play. One of them is the Arena. You are in a stadium and you wreck everyone's faces. No lanes just fighting. There is also Conquest which is the normal 5vs5,3 -lane map mode. The map is trully wonderful.Last, but not least,There are some other game modes like: Assault, Joust, Siege, Clash, Domination and Match of the day which is s a special mode, that changes daily. (That's it :P)

    Excellent

It's a great game which I was addicted a few months ago. This game give us the opportunity to play as an ancient god online pvp battles against other gods. Similar to other ones? May be, but for me the way the controls work (specially in keyboard, I didn't get used to it with the X-Box controller on my pc) is one of the things that makes me love this game

Stuck with me longer than most MOBAs.

Of all the MOBAs, Dota-likes and straight up League of Legends clones, I did not expect this one to do as well as it has. The 3rd-person camera and more arcadey gameplay make it far more immediate than most of its kind, there's a good variety of modes for both casual and serious play, and while it doesn't quite match Dota 2's "Here is the entire roster free of charge" approach, its generous cash/credits awards and fairly frequent discounts allow you to unlock a decent variety of characters without too much grind.

    MOBA on a different view

I've played pretty much every mainstream MOBA out there, and this was by far the most interesting. Mainly because of the fact that you play a god. I mean, it feels epic and it looks epic!
Then the gameplay, its a very refreshing and new way on how to experience a MOBA. They let you play as 3rd person. So instead of being above your god, you're right behind them. I really really enjoyed this, because I also love MMOs and that's pretty much the same concept.
Most of the skills are also skill based, not so much click cast. This requires you to be more active, and to me it feels more enjoyable as well.
I stopped playing this game because my friends also quit, but I'm thinking on getting back into it.

SMITE the battle ground of the gods review

SMITE the battle ground of the gods its an f2p moba created by hi rez studios with the colaboration of georgia.org technology, smite is different to other mobas because it has a third person perspective that means that your god(champion if you came from dota, lol,or hots)moves with W,A,S,D the game has lots of gamemodes those are:conquest, joust, siege, arena, clash, ranked conquest and joust.
The SMITE has a voice chat with multyple commands, and the ping system, those were created to make faster the gameplay experience , but sometimes you can meet people who abuses of this and repeat hundreds of times the same command and that can be the worst side of this system.
sometimes when you are on a team fight the quantity of effects on screen can be blindingly but that depends on the player.
in summary SMITE is a new type of MOBA that opens an infinyte of doors to the gaming industry, but the community can be stressing.

    Smitten with Smite

I've played many MOBAs, yet Smite is the one that got me hooked, even with its many flaws. Let me list you the reasons, delivered to you in list-fashion to your convenience. 1) The 3rd person view: there is a great difference between this view and an isometric view. It makes the gameplay more fun in my experience. Many abilities become skill-shots, even basic attacks can be body-blocked, and you get a 'tunnel-view' limitation since your's not absolutely aware of your surroundings beyond your minimap. Also, this might appeal to players of other games with similar camera perspective. 2) Map Diversity: Do you crave for some fast-paced action, with all characters brawling? Try Arena. Want your classic MOBA map where you slowly build your strategy? Conquest. Want to push the lanes fast and care about strategic points? Siege, Joust. Despite the focus on the main tri-lane map for Ranked and Pro playing, the game and the player base diversify among many maps and playstyles. 3) Mythology: Do I even need to explain how cool it is to play with mythological gods, heroes and creatures? 4) Hirez is pretty cool when it comes to gifting gems (in-game currency for skins and such). And also at a competitive level, trying to give opportunities to small teams. Now The Downsides. 1) The community. Because, of course. This is a MOBA, a MOBA without a toxic community would make me doubt this is humanity and not everyone being replaced by robots. 2) Some graphic or server problems from time to time. The game, for what I've seen, runs smoothly with most computers, new and old. I'd even suggest lowering its graphic requirements, since I've seen it run on really old computers. But there might be some issues, especially with new patches and updates. And the servers usually run well, but not always as smooth. Overall, my favorite MOBA out there and so far.

    Definitely a Top 3 MOBA

SMITE is a MOBA with a different take on it. It uses a third person view and the WASD keys for movement, making the MOBA experience completely different from your usual ones such as LoL, DotA and HotS. I've never been a huge fan of top down view games, the ones where you have to be constantly clicking to do something. I played a lot of MOBAs before, mainly because all of my friends played them, but I never really enjoyed them. That's when I found out about SMITE, and thank God I found out about it. It was a breath of fresh air. There were so many new things to learn.

The map is the same as your usual MOBA but it is divided as the Solo lane, which is the shorter side lane, the Mid lane and the Duo lane, the longer side lane. Another difference is that it has 2 buffs, (previously 4, they removed the Attack Speed buff and Movement Speed buff) the Power buff and Mana Regeneration buff, and two Bosses, the Goldfury that rewards all the team with gold (the amount of gold rewarded depends on the time of the game that the Goldfury is slain as it scales with time) and the Fire Giant, that gives the team that has slain it a Power buff and a Health and Mana Regeneration buff. Note that the buff is only given to players that are alive, those that respawn after it is defeated don't have the buffs. There are also many new items, cool abilities, and something I've never seen in any game, Relics. Relics are items that you can pick up for free, in-game, at level 1 and at level 12 (max level is 20). You can only pick up 2 of them and you can't sell them once you buy them. These items don't give you stats but they give you a unique effect, for example, the Relic "Purification" makes you immune to CC (Crowd Control, such as stuns, silences, etc...) effects for 2 seconds and has a 160 seconds cooldown. Another Relic, "Sanctuary", makes you immune to damage for 2 seconds. You can't take any actions but you can still move and is on a 160 seconds. A normal interaction you can usually see in the game is when someone is playing the God Thanatos, the Hand of Death, with his ultimate ability, they can fly to the sky and come down on someone, usually the Mage or the Guardian (the Support), whose health is in his execute threshold and instantly execute him. But not if the one being attacked has the Relic "Sanctuary", they activate it right before the Thanatos comes down on them and they aren't executed and live to tell another day. Another unique thing you'll see in the game is the fact that basic attacks are actually all skill shots, you can't target someone and attack him automatically, you have to aim. That's why they hurt more than in other MOBAs.

For communication you have the VGS commands that you can use by making combinations of letters. For example you can call a missing enemy from your lane by clicking VF2, and it will say "Enemy missing middle." or you can say you're ganking the right lane by pressing VSG3 and it will say "I'll gank right lane.". The default voice is of a man but you can buy voicepacks for Gods so it's the God's voice that speaks when you use the VGS.
You can't talk to the other team through chat as in other games. This is a method used to try to avoid flaming and BM between teams and I think it is good.

There is a plethora of game modes, more than you'll ever encounter in other games. You have the most popular one, the 5v5 with 3 lanes, Conquest. You have Arena, a 5v5 game mode with no lanes, just a big circle where you fight it out against each other. Then you have Siege, the 4v4 game mode with 2 lanes and 1 jungle. Then there's Joust, 3v3 with only 1 lane and 2 jungle sides. Another one is Assault, a 5v5 with 1 lane only where your God is chosen randomly and you can't recall to base, so you can only buy items when you die. There's also the newest game mode, Clash, a 5v5 with 2 lanes with also the Fire Giant and the Gold Fury. You can say this is hybrid between Conquest and Joust. And then there's the Match of the Day, where everyday there's a new type of game mode. There's one called "Cooldowns Runneth Over", where you have 80% cooldown reduction and no mana costs, so you can imagine the chaos. There's also the "All-Out Assault" where you can choose any combination of Gods that you want, even 5 of the same God, such as 5 Sobek, and with no mana costs too. This makes for some really crazy combinations. For Ranked play, there's Ranked Conquest, the newly added Ranked Joust, and also Ranked Duel (previously called Joust) where you play in the Joust map but instead of 3v3, it's 1v1.

Talking meta game now, we have five different classes in the game, these classes are: Mages, Hunters, Guardians, Warriors and Assassins.
Right now the meta consists of a Solo laner, a Jungler, a Mid, a Support and an ADC. On the Solo lane you usually have a Warrior. The job of the Warrior is to farm alone and rotate to teamfights and in them try to keep the carries, that stay in the backline, from dealing damage to your team. You then have the Jungler. This one is usually an Assassin and it's job is to rotate around the map, clear the buff camps for the Solo laner and the Mid laner and gank all the lanes. They are the ones that are more versatile. They can either make good off-tanks or even carries. It's not that usual, but the Jungler can actually carry a game. A hyper carry such as Kali can easily carry the game if she is allowed to farm normally. Mid laner is almost always a Mage and it's one of the carries. In this meta, high burst mages are the preferred choice for mid laners. Their job is to stay in the backline, behind their Support and Solo laner and deal damage. Then you have the Duo lane where your Support and your ADC are. It's pretty clear what the Support's job is. The Guardian supports the team and protect the carries. The ADC is the one true carry of the game. They are usually Hunters but some Mages can play the role as well or better than some Hunters. And that's the current meta.

Community wise, this game isn't the best. If we're talking about community as in players, than it is one of the worst. You'll find much more BM and spamming than in any other game and I think that's what steers people away from SMITE. You can always create your own clan and invite some nice people to it and play together, but when you solo queue any game mode at least 70% of the time you'll encounter people BMing and flaming.

Graphics are good, of course they could be better but I understand that as a MOBA you have to appeal to the low-end computer users, as you want the most people playing your game.

The company, Hi-Rez, gets a lot of hate from the players, a lot of it coming from the Tribes drama, but they're are actually really nice to them. In no other game will you see the company offering you Gems, the premium currency (same as Riot Points in LoL), every week. You can earn up to 80 gems per week if you login everyday and complete your weekly quests. For comparison, a premium skin, with completely new effects, new voice packs and new animations costs 600 gems. But there are also really good skins for 400 gems and 250 gems. They also have a lot of events where they'll put skins on sale or even award gems for every "First Win of the Day" on all the game modes. They usually base these events on actual real religious festivals. An example is the Saturnalia, an ancient Roman festival that lasted 7 days. Through all of the seven days, Hi-Rez puts everything on sale, each day for each Pantheon.
With the normal currency, Favor, you can also buy Mastery skins and recolor skins. Recolors are exactly what they say they are, a recolor of the God's textures. Mastery skins are something that you can only get when you achieve a certain mastery level on a God. If you get mastery 1 on a God you can buy their Golden Mastery skin, if you get to mastery 5 you can buy their Legendary Mastery skin and if you achieve mastery 10, the maximum level of mastery, you can get their Diamond Mastery skin.
The worst thing I can say about their marketing is the fact that there are a lot of Exclusive skins, skins that can't be bought directly. To get them you have to roll a chest for usually 300-400 gems and in that chest there are other skins, voicepacks, or even XP boosters, so you're never sure if you'll get the said skin, unless you already have everything that's in the chest.

As for buying Gods, you have to use favor or gems. A God that's already been out for a while costs 5500 favor. A newly released God costs 11000 favor and then there are some cheaper Gods that cost 2250 and 1125 (not sure about this amount but it's somewhere around it). BUT, they have the best deal you can find in every game. For 29,99USD you can get all the Gods that are out and all the future Gods that might come out in the future, so you'll never have to worry about buying the new God for 11000 favor. Plus all the favor that you've spent on buying Gods will be refunded to you.

Concluding the review I must say that this is the game that I never get tired of playing. I'm the type of person who plays a game for a week and I never touch it again. With SMITE it's different. I currently have 1100 hours spent in the game and I don't regret a single minute. I'm always excited for future updates and events. We recently had the SMITE World Championship in Atlanta where the team Epsilon won and took home a big amount of money. Even so it was less than the first SWC, the one which had the 3rd biggest prize pool of all games in the world. Hi-Rez decided to cap this year's prize pool at 1.000.000 USD. Mainly because they want to give more money to the losing teams, so they won't give up on the E-Sports scene and try to make playing SMITE a well paid job. Some teams weren't happy with this decision, mainly the top teams, since they would be winning less money than before. I agree with the decision because there will be more competition and closer matches between teams.

All in all, this is a really solid game that I would rate 8/10. I hope you find time to try this game out and if you need any help just add me in game "ZMemme" and I'll try to help you out.

one of the greatest MOBAs out there

SMITE is a MOBA where you play as mythical gods and deities from different pantheons like Greek-Egyptian-Chinese and others......this game is not like other MOBAs because of it's 3rd person perspective which i prefer over the Isometric ones and SMITE also features a vast array of gods to choose from fitting every playstyle and they are constantly adding new ones to the roster
i think it's one of the greatest MOBAs i've ever played (although i don't love MOBAs that much) but this game is different in it's own way so you should give it a shot....it's free to play so you won't lose anything :p

One of the Best Moba ever

SMITE is a MOBA in 3rd person and F2P.
Since March 25, 2012, Hi-rez Studios people have known how to shape this wonderful project.
Competitiveness, the wide gamma of characters from different mythological pantheons, give this game a new way to see the MOBA and play them well
And their community is quite wide and very attentive.

    Smite. Best time killer game?

Smite is a third-person multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Hi-Rez Studios for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This a very fun time killing game. You really get immersed into battle with your chosen gods.

When you master a god/champion, the game becomes easier for you to play against other rival players.

I prefer this game over league of legends any day.

    Great Game!!

I have about 1200 hours played out of steam, and another 145 on steam. I can say this game is really great, and a lot of fun especially with friends. I've read some of the negative reviews, and for the most part it seems that they are not lvl 30 yet. Keep talking about matchmaking, and afk people in every match. Once you hit account lvl 30 is where the matchmaking starts to become somewhat competent, and afk players won't be as big of an occurence like they are in the lower level brackets. Now I will say that sometimes it is pretty crap especially when it's not prime time for whichever region you're from.

Smite really does have some cool gods to choose from, and at the time of writing the count is up to 72. With many more to come. The character design is overall pretty good. Some gods definitely have bloated kits, and need to be trimmed down, but I would say the balance is in the best state it's ever been. Minus a few exceptions. The variety of game modes is also a big difference from other mobas who focus only on conquest like modes. Helps keep the game from getting overly stale.

Performance wise it runs pretty good as well, but it does seem to be getting worse for some people. Some can run the game max settings without a hitch, and others with the same hardware have bad drops during a match. Something they did after the season 2 patch changed the performance, and it can be hit or miss. Honestly judging from quite a few posts I've read on the smite reddit it seems people with older hardware actually have better performance than people with newer components. I'm guessing it has to do with smite using dx9, and being only 32 bit, but until Hi-Rez says something about it, it's only my speculation.

Finals thoughts are this game can be a ton of fun, and with friends you can have some great moments. I would suggest at least trying it. It's free so you don't have anything to lose.

P.S. If you really start to play smite a lot then do yourself a favor and buy the godpack. All current and future gods for $30 is a hell of a deal compared to league.

Its hard to write a review for a MOBA but SMITE was probably the best i ever played. In the most MOBAs you have your view from up above and shred your mouse with clicking. In SMITE you have WASD movement which is more like a 3rd person shooter. Its a fair game with many interesting heroes to pick! You have different game modes and a training ground where you can test the abilities of all heroes for free. Not every MOBA provides that. Like Heroes of the shitstorm...

I am happy to see this game has grown to a point where many people around the world train to be one of the best to compete in tournaments. The game has had it's up and downs but for the most part it is holding steady.

    V Awesome Game

This game is very unique. 3D MOBA with a mix of mythical gods :). It gets pretty addicting because of the wide variety of game modes and "mode of the days". The staff on this game are also VERY generous with the in game currencies, because we have daily quests that let us earn gems for free and we also get them for free just for logging in, which even lets free-to-play players get cool things like god skins. I usually play with a group of 3 friends and its a blast ^_^. Highly reccomended.

I like the fact that it gives you the option of different gods, unlike other mmos which asks u to pick a character/class and stick with it for each game, smite provides you the option of switching out with different gods. I also like the game style, for one thing when you click to attack an enemy it makes you feel like your actually the one attacking the enemy. Grate graphics in my opinion, and i also like the referral system. i am known to get bored of most games i play in a few days but so far smite has kept me entertained.

Smite is currently my favourite moba right now. I'm still kind of a noob at it, but it's so much fun. I really love all the different gods, pantheons, skins, and tiny details Hi-Rez includes in the game. It can be very aggravating after multiple losses, but that happens. Smite is just really creative and competitive, and that's why I like it. :D

    I love this game!

I started playing Smite about 3 years ago and I honestly can't stop. There's never a dull moment in this game. It's highly competitive and skill means everything in this game. This means that the more you play, the better you'll do. I seriously can't get enough! The community is great too. I met one of my best friends playing this game about 2 years ago and we still play together all the time now. Truly worth a 5 star review!

    Breathtaking Action MOBA!

My experience with smite has been mostly great up until now, with little to no problems, and the main problems that I have encountered were about the servers, and not the game itself.Other than that,he graphics are stunning and the gameplay adds the well-known action layer to the already acclaimed MOBA genre. Not to mention the fact that Hirez are always making partnerships and giveaways, showing their concern for the players and wanting to give us,gamers, the best experience possible All in all,it is a great game with a great community,so for newcomers,it's totally worth giving a shot.

    Smite

Smite is a really fun game, much better than league. The gods are much easier to obtain and gems are as well. The 3rd person angle make the game go faster and adds a unique touch to smite,

    Best Moba ever

I was never fond of mobas before i played Smite. This game got me hooked immediately after the tutorial. While other mobas are top down, Smite is third person, which is why I was more interested in this that any other moba and it was easier to grab the concept of "Moba" than games like, Dota 2 or LoL (I'm not saying they're bad). Smite instantly brings you to action as soon as the timer starts, and the satisfaction of defeating an enemy is superb. Unlike other mobas, where most of your attacks automatically aims at your enemy, Smite requires skill and accurate prediction to land a shot. You could wreak havoc upon the battlefield or dodge the overly-fed enemy with your mighty skills and feel like you are god (pun intented). Smite has all the elements of your typical moba, but it also brings many sweet twists into the gameplay. Even if mobas aren't your cup of tea, you should definitely check this one out.

    Greatest MOBA ever

Smite is the most amazing game ever. I've played other games and nothing comes into comparison to smite. The controls, in my opinion, are better than LOL where I get pissed off when i press the wrong spell i wanted to use and really hard to move the direction i want it to go while smite is where i can use aswd keys like browser games which i played a lot and the spells are easy to use also. In all smite is the best and always will be (to me) the greatest MOBA game ever.

Great game, favorite MOBA at the moment.

My initial reaction to this game when I first started playing was centered around trying to not like it. I liked League, I liked DOTA, what does this game have to offer? Well, it has a lot to offer. First of all many skins are acquired with the currency that you earn by playing matches, (known as Influence Points in League, here it is Favor). Updates are frequent and the game is only getting bigger, new gods are added often, there's just so much desirable content this game has to offer. I'd highly recommend at least trying it.

    Toxic community

tbh, this game is so fun but the amount of toxic players in casual modes is so annoying, every game someone cusses at one another/dc's/intentionally feeds/rage quit/ etc. If i'm not in a full party, it's impossible to get a smooth game where I can actually have fun :/

    Unique amazing MOBA

Think DOTA, LOL, your favorite MOBAs; only in 3rd person camera view with better action that is definitely more fun than the bird's eye view mode of generic MOBAs. This game is a good transition from shooter games (even FPS games) if you're trying to learn MOBAs, I started as an FPS player but now I love this game more than COD.

    AMAZING!

This MOBA is the MOBA every MOBA wishes to be. The over shoulder view makes it very fast and amazing.

This game is different from the other MOBAs because it puts you in the character's perspective 3D, more God´s for play in diferents rol and very funny & beautifull grafics, equilibrated rankeds and mores skins for God´s.

Possibly the best MOBA out there?

I've tried pretty much everything in the MMO realm.

Considering only the more modern titles.. I appreciate the ease of entry of a game like LoL, the added complexity and depth of DOTA 2. But Smite? That's a whole new thing.

Graphics and shiny things are nice, but they often clutter gameplay up (there's a huge surge of 3D 3rd person MOBA titles that are sluggish at best). Smite managed to make it fluid. It doesn't play like a 3rd person arcade shooter either though. They kept the MOBA where it needs to be.

I'm more of a MMORPG kind of person and I still can't help but to fire up Smite and play the new gods as they come out and skirmish on the Arena with my favourites.

The community is similar to other MOBAs'. It has some toxicity (which is handled by being reportable as Harassment), but not as much as what I've seen in its competitors.

The theme (gods) and the humour it's done with in the skins, voice packs and even silly promotional scenes in the client are an example in today's gaming world.
It's entirely feasible (though time consuming) to get all the game's gods without paying a dime, too. Skins.. not so much. But those are cosmetic and should be premium anyway.

The only bad thing I can say about SMITE is they left Domination (base capture style gameplay) behind. Many loved it and it made it even more unique.
Everything else is awesome. Give the game a shot, you won't regret it.

    Awesome moba

This game is really awesome, it is different from the other MOBAs because it puts you in the character's perspective WHICH IS COOL. I really enjoy all the maps and the gods, it could use some balancing in ranked games but it's okay!
