Blizzard announced at Blizzcon this year that StarCraft 2 would be going free-to-play. Now that time has come.
Anyone can download the game, hop into competitive multiplayer, or check out the Wings of Liberty campaign, and if you had already bought Wings of Liberty in the past, then you’ll have received a copy of Heart of the Swarm, the game’s first expansion. The second expansion, Legacy of the Void, must be purchased no matter what.
The commanders used in the game’s co-op mode must also be purchased separately, and the Nova DLC missions, but other than that. The base game is entirely free to play.
