It’s been a long, strange journey for The Culling, one that ends with its closure. When the game originally launched in 2016, it had a fair amount of success, but due to mismanagement as well as a few poor updates, the game saw some decline. Then there was a sequel, The Culling 2, which saw quite some negative backlash.
So in response, developers Xaviant went back to their source of success in the first place, the first game. They made it free-to-play, they rolled it back to its original state, before they had gone and fumbled with it, and then they intended to roll forward with that.
This plan lasted nearly a year. This week, Xaviant announced that because the game wasn’t financially successful, they would be be closing the servers come May 15th,
