Ultima Online is perhaps one of the longest-running MMORPGs out there, first launching in 1997. For the most part, it’s still sustained by the subscription model it’s had since it released.
That’s all about to change. Starting next year, Ultima Online will embark upon an Endless Journey, a free version of the game which has plenty going for it, but restrictions do apply. Anyone who hasn’t played Ultima Online before (or in a very long time) can hop on and play for free once the update goes live. But any currently active players must first wait 120 days before they can take advantage of the free version.
Endless Journey players will gain access to all expansions through Stygian Abyss, but any subsequent ones must be purchased. Other than that, players will have access to all Ultima Online’s core features and are free to explore Britannia.
