At Dota 2’s big yearly tournament, TI:7, Valve wowed the crowd (and the promptly unwowed the crowd) by revealing a brand new game, Artifact, the Dota Card Game.
Judging by the ratio of likes to dislikes in the teaser above, people aren’t too pleased with the announcement. I can’t say I blame them, considering all that Valve has potentially in production. We won’t even mention the big one, but there were rumors of a Left 4 Dead 3 a while back, and Valve evidently has three full VR projects in the works. But I guess they also had a Dota card game, which won’t be arriving until 2018 anyway.
We don’t know much about it, but what we do know is that it’s a 1v1 card game meant to evoke the general gameplay flow of Dota 2. Meaning, there will be multiple lanes you have to manage while you command everything from above.
But still, I guess any new game from Valve is a good sign that they are, in fact, making games. I think people were beginning to doubt them for a while.
